Myotis velifer
April 10 Chaco Escendido, 20+ mi. S Reynosa, Tamaulipas.
On the east side of this town are several old wells,
mostly dry. In each of these B.B. Benson and I found a
few (9m or we took 11) of this species. We captured them
after dark by shooting and I took 5 with a small
net as they attempted to fly out the top of the wells.
The wells were 6 to 10 ft. in width and my guess is,
about 50 ft. deep. The specimens (1?) which we took
were all males. A pond was nearby.
