General Accounts
May 24 Yesterday we drove on toward La Venturo and Saltillo. We stopped at a location: 11 mi NW Cedral, San Luis Potosi. I set out 70 M. Specials and this morning took 1 ♀ Peromyscus sp., 1 ♂, 1 ♀ Peromyscus eremicus, and 3 ♂, 3 ♀ Dipodomys merriami. The habitat was yucca trees, creosote brush, and cacti on rocky soil.
May 25 Yesterday we drove on to Lulu, Zacatecas and camped 1/2 mile N of town. I set 75 M. Specials near creosote bush, mesquite, weeds, and cacti. This morning took 2 Dipodomys merriami, 1 ♀ Peromyscus eremicus, and 1♂ Perognathus penicillatus. In the afternoon we drove on about 3 mi. N of Lulu, Zacatecas, but were forced to stop because of automobile trouble. I set 50 M. Specials along the railroad track, near creosote bush, cacti, and partly on grassy soil, and partly on bare rocky soil. At this locality today I saw Harris Hawk, Seated Owl, Plumbeous Vulture, Great-crested Flycatcher, Bewick Wren, Linnet, Turkey Vulture, Mockingbird, Cactus Wren, Canyon Towhee, Curve-billed Thrasher, and Golden-fronted Woodpecker. I collected 3 Cremidophorus sepinus here.
May 26 Took 1♂ Perognathus penicillatus, 1 ♀ Peromyscus maniculatus, 1♀ Dipodomys spectabilis, and 3 ♂, 3 ♀ Dipodomys ordii this morning. In addition
