General Account
and approximately 20 mi. NW [illegible] San Luis Potosi,
San Luis Potosi. In the afternoon I collected
2 Sceloporus sp., one Crepidophorus serlineatus,
one ? lucifer Hummingbird with nest and eggs,
one set of Cactus Wren eggs; and a Silvilagus sp.
In addition I saw Cactus Wren, Bewick Wren,
Cactus Woodpecker, Cinclatela (??), Desert Sparrow,
Mockingbird, Scaled Quail, Verdin, Brown
Towhee, Curve-billed Thrasher. At the Hacienda
La Parada I saw English Sparrow, Barn Swallow,
and Cliff Swallow. The Hacienda is very large
but practically deserted now. The country here
is made up of low hills with a medium thick
cover of several varieties of cacti, including
Nopal and Cholla, and brush. I set out 75
M. Specials and 4+7 live traps, for mice.
May 20
In my live traps I took 1 ? Dipodomys merriami
and 3 ?, 1 ? Perognathus nelsoni . In the others
I took 3 ? Dipodomys merriami , 1?, 1? Peromyscus
eremicus and 1?, 3 ? Perognathus nelsoni.
May 21
Set 75 M. Specials and 4+7 live traps for mice
last night at some locality as May 20. Took
1 ? Oryzomyx touristus , 5 Perognathus nelsoni , and
1 Peromyscus eremicus . In the afternoon we
drove toward San Luis Potosi, stopping 1 mi.
NW of Mezquitic to collect Sceloporus sp.
These were very numerous in ponds of water.
