E.V. Miller 1940 29 General Account toward the city of San Luis Potosi. We stopped at 6 mi.SE Punta, Jalisco, ?set out 75 m. Specials, some among thin brush and cactus on the floor of a small valley and some along the base of large rocks near the top of a low ridge. Dry grass, a little brush and cactus were also here. May 18 Took in my traps 1 & Peromyscus boylii. Also cought a Thomomys umbrinus - had 4 traps set for gophers. Last night I collected 7 of a small species of Rana. These were living by a few pools of water in the gulch nearby, most of which was dry. In the afternoon we drove to San Luis Potosi, San Luis, Potosi, and camped 2 mi. NW of the city. In the evening I set out 65 m. Specials. May 19 Took in my traps 2 & Peromyscus maniculatus, 1 & Peroquathus velsonii, 1 & Dipodomys ordii, and 1 & Dipodomys merriami. Caught a small red- spotted toad last night. The habitat here is sandy, light gray-brown soil, mostly fields of Maguey plants, with a few 'pepei' trees, cacti, and species of brush around them. Mockingbirds, Cactus Wrens, Desert Sparrows, Rovers and Shrikes were birds I saw near camp. Also Turkey Buzzard. In the afternoon we drove over a rough dirt and rock road to a location 1 mi. W Hacienda la Parada,
