General Account.
nelsoni. This afternoon I set 75 traps again,
a part of them along a gulch E of the railroad that
runs by camp. White-winged Doves, Bewick Wrens,
Brown Towhees, Cardinals, Golden-fronted Woodpeckers,
California(?) Jays and other birds were seen around
camp. Phainopepla also.
May 14 Took in my traps 7 Perognathus nelsoni, 1
Rheithrodonmys fulvescens, 1 Baiomys sp., 4
Peromyscus maniculatus, 11 Peromyscus boylii,
and 2 Perognathus flavus. There later 2 were taken
in live traps set near the edge of an old corn field.
In the afternoon we drove on through the city of
Aguascalientes to a location: 2000 m. 3 mi NE
Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes. In the late afternoon
I set 50 m. Specials here. The country was low
hills covered with a medium thick growth of small
cactus (leafless) and large nopal cactus. While
setting traps I saw linnets, Mockingbird, Bewick
Wren, White-winged Dove, Dryolates sp., Raven,
Silvilagus sp. and Sealed Quail.
May 15 Took in my traps 3 ?, 10 Rheithrodonmys fulvescens,
10 Liomys irroratus, and 1 of Peromyscus sp.
In the afternoon we drove on to a location:
1900 m. 1 mi. N Chicalote, Aguascalientes. This
Chicalote is a railroad station. Another Chicalote
near here is a rancho. Both of these are a
few miles north of the city, Aguascalientes.
