E. V. Miller 1940 General Account 26 caraght and had escaped. Brown Towhees, Bewick Wrens, Hummingbirds, and other species of birds were present. Camp located at 6.4 mi. W Morelia, Michoacan. May 11 We drove on stopping near Lake Chapala, Jalisco, lart night but did not trap as we wished to reach Guadalajara this morning to ship specimens. May 12 Set 50 traps last night at a location: El Roble, 8 mi. NE Tepetitlan de Morelos, Jalisco. This is on the old road from Guadalajara to Aguascalientes. The dry habitats were open fields covered with low grass, ploughed fields, nopal cactus, growing large [illegible] in almost pure stands, but not thick, and lastly a thin oak woods with small mostly dead brush underneath. The country was very dry and prospects did not look good. This morning I got 2 & Peromyscus boylii in my traps. Last night I discovered a Mephitis macroura rooting with his head under a nopal cactus. Shot him. May 13 Yesterday we drove on and camped in Jalisco at the state line of Jalisco and Aguascalientes. Our location: 1700 m. 9 mi. N Encarnacion de Diaz, Jalisco. In the evening of May 12 I set out 75 M. specials around the edge of a field, previously planted with corn. The field was edged with small trees, dry grass, and nopal cactus. This morning I took 10 Peromyscus maniculatus, 2 Peromyscus boylii, 1 Baiomys sp., 1 Perognathus flavus, and 4 Perognathus
