E.V. Miller 1940 23 General Account went hunting for Romerolagus diazi. I saw none although Benson saw some and Delgadillo shot one. I shot 11 Scleropus sp? In the afternoon I set 2 double sets for gophers and caught one ? Thomomys umbinus. Later I set 36 M. specials for mice along the base of a low rock cliff. While doing this I collected (probably a wren's nest) a Pygmy Nutcrack and its? nest containing 4 well incubated eggs. The nest was in a crevice in a rock cliff, about 4 ft. above the ground. I also shot a small yellow warbler? While setting my traps hail fell for a few minutes so that I had to reset my traps. After dark it rained a little. The temperature drops below freezing at night. May 4 In my traps I took 4 ?, 1 ? Peromyscus melanophrys, 1 ?, 1 ? Rheithrodonmys megaloticus. I shot 14 lizards and saw one Romerolagus diazi. In the afternoon we drove back on the same road to a location; 10,800 ft. La Providencia, NW slope Popocatepetl, Mexico. We camped beside a small stream near some buildings which are the official headquarters of the park, although no one lives there at present. I set 50 M. specials along the stream and on the hillside. The habitat: fine dark soil, considerable bunch grass, brush, medium sized fir trees (Abies sp.). In the evening about 6 45 to 7 00 PM I shot 4 ? Oplurus fuscus. May 5 Took in my traps 3 Microtus mexicanus, 3 ?, 6 ? Peromyscus melanophrys, and 1 ?
