General Account
There were scattered pines and much low bunch here.
May 1 Took in my last night traps 1♂, 1♀ Peromyscus
melanotis, 2♂, 1♀ Peromyscus melanophrys. I caught
a small Sceloporus ? sp. And last night I shot 2
bats, 1♂ Lasinius cinereus and 1♂ Epterusius fuscus.
May 2 Yesterday afternoon we drove toward Mt. Popocatepetl,
camping camping at the end of the road, about ½

Peromyscus melanophrys. I rebaited and reset my
traps and left them out. Early in the afternoon
it began to hail small stones and has continued until
now—4:20 P.M. Popocatepetl had a fairly heavy
covering of snow when we arrived. This (or the hail)
has extended 1 or 2 thousand feet lower than it
was yesterday.
May 3 Set 47 live traps for mice last night in addition
to the 50 left out from night previous. In the
live traps took 2♂, 2♀ Peromyscus melanotis. In
the others took 3♂, 1♀ Peromyscus melanotis, 1♀
Peromyscus melanophrys and 2♀ Rheithrodontymys
megalotis. In the morning from 8³⁰ to 10³⁰ I
