Peroqnathus californicus
June 5, Santiago Springs, 2700 ft., 8 mi. E + 1/2 mi. S (Memmler), Slab, Caly.
every two hours on warm kliv. They
seem to be very easily chilled. I kept them
with me during the night to keep them warm.
In 48 live traps set along the banks of
the creek going south from Santiago Springs I
cought 18 Peroqnathus californicus (8 imm. m's,
5 imm. f's, 4 adult m's + 1 adult f.) I also caught
2 Peroqnathus moratus. No other genera
were caught at all. The banks of the stream
are quite steep in some places. They are full
of holes of various sizes and there are
frequently runways at the bottom of the
cliff.
The creek is dry for most of the way,
but just below the spring there is some
water (more or less stagnant) in the
bed. The miniature f's caught weighed:
15.6, 16.9, 16.9, 17.5 and 19.0. The last
had 6 very small embryos. She had a
total length of 182 and a tail of 102.
June 6, In 47 live traps set in the same region
as last night caught 4 m miniature P.c.,
2 miniature f P.c. and 1 adult m P.c.
