Santiago Springs, 2700 ft., 8 mi. E and 1 1/2 mi. S Summner, ShO Co., Calif.
thegully. I caught 18 Perognathus Californicus
(8 miniature o's, 5 miniature f's, 4 adult o's and
1 adult f) and 2 Perognathus inornatus
which we are keeping alive. The dry creek-
bed runs north and south. The banks in
many places are very steep. There are many
holes in the bank and often runways at the
bottom of the bank. There is dense grass
growing above the
bank and sparser
growth below down
to the creek bed.
The are some
horsehound plants and Heliotropium.
June 6,
Last night I set out 48 live traps in the
same region as the night before. This time
my catch was: 2 o miniature Peromyscus
maniculatus; 1 adult o of the same, 4 o immature
Perognathus Californicus, 2 f immatures
and 1 o adult of the same. We put up
the adult pocket mice and then took a few
pictures and prepared to break camp.
Yesterday afternoon when reeling my traps
Emma went along. On the way back we
walked along the road. We saw a squirrel
