V. Memmler 1942 Itinerary April 7, Muddy Creek, 1000 to 1600 ft., 1 mi. S. Cluevar Canyon, Monterey Co. Caly. and 2 ♀ Reithrodonmys. We next had set up the slopes of a steep hillside covered with Salvia mellifera where little ground cover was present. The ground showed evidence of being greatly washed during rainy weather. Here we found 2 traps spring without catch and 2 Peromyscus of questionable species, both males. About a 100 ft. rise was covered by the fifteen traps set in this portion of the hillside. Farther up the mountainside the slope was not so steep and ground cover under Black Sage, Salvia, Artemesia and a few live oaks was more abundant. Large amount of Lotus sp. being present. Altitude here ranged from 1100 to 1400 ft. We set out 62 traps. 3 were spring with no catch and others caught 1 ♀ and 1 ♂ Peromyscus californicus. The ♀ had 2,8mm. embryos. Also caught here were 2 ♂ Peromyscus maniculatus and 1 ♀. The ♀ had no embryos. 2 ♂ and 1 ♀ Peromyscus of questionable species were also caught here. The ♀ had 2,9 mm. embryos. Thirteen traps set on the top of the mountain hill caught 1 ♀ Microtus with 4, 14mm or embryos. The top slopes of
