4 mi. SW Prineville, 3300 ft., Crook Co., Oregon
June 20 (continued) Ihamnaphis but saw none. The river has a good supply of Rana, probably yellow-leaps but am uncertain. The cover, moreover, seems adequate. A rancher up the way from camp says they are "water snakes" in the river. Caught a number of frogs and worked up out of the valley bottom on the west side. Here found Sceloporus occidentalis on the rocks of the east facing slope below the canyon lava rim. I here also found Uta on the passier rocky slopes. Went back to Prineville and on the way caught a Ihamnaphis adinoides in a wet-water ditch. Also caught a red racer among rocks above the farmed irrigated areas. Walked back to camp and prepared my catch. About 3:00 P.M. went out with Al Wolfson to a site NE of camp about 1 mile where he had found 2 specimens of a different species of Sceloporus. We flushed several returning with 4 altogether, I the wind had risen and the sun was low consequently collecting was bad. That evening saw another bat and several night hawks. Plan to check camp tomorrow.
June 21, 1938 After breakfast went out to the rocky rise we visited yesterday afternoon. Gotten interesting data on the lizard. Returned to camp at 10:30 prepared my specimen and helped break camp. After lunch went to B end and then out the S Branch of the Century drive. Scarcely got out of
