Marshall 1747 121. July 9 Dickey Collection Melopiza Melopiza melodia from "South Suisun Bay" Grinnell says race with coloration of maxillaris and with size & structure of gorbli or sulaemeris. "South Suisun Bay, Calif." (Howell) & "South Suisun Bay, Contra Costa Co., Calif." (Hey) September 22-24 1916 Hey: "found fair quarters near Associated Oil Company's plant on the south side of Suisun Bay." "went after song sparrows which were thick" D 530 - D 564 -- Probe Camp. We had been camping in an old cow shed in pasture. The trapping & shooting had all been done near a tule marsh of about two acres & about 300 yards from camp. I have never seen the birds so thick as were the song sparrows in this limited area. We spent the night above Walnut Creek setting out a line of traps each."
