Transcription
Of a primary important Lupinus arboreus 2-4 ft high, these forming hemispherical structures edge to edge in chains, bushes touching (stems 3' apart) or with gaps (stems up to 9 ft apart) the chains or wider spaced bushes enclosing areas of thick veg 1 ft high or more, very hostile & with it perfusion of flowers of all kinds, & several grasses. Angelica hendersonii (Umbelliferae) 22" is spotty, Chlorogalum pomeridianum 600 plant (Liliaceae) also solitary every few pls and a 1' funnel grass grows solitarily & independently. Slater grass, a gourd (Cucurbitaceae), Pteris aquilina (fern), Orthocarpus, small Rubus, Eriodictyon californicum, Ligusticum apioidorum (Ferns - Celery-like) together with numerous other flowers & succulents form the mat between Lupines. (There are a few more strange Compositae which are perennial independent brushes but not common right here more so on cliffs). Conspicuous elements are Achillea millefolium meriting 18" (Common Yarrow - Compositae) & Achillea Stachys californica 20"(Labiatae) which recline against the lupines & mostly grow Also the abundant groundselia prostrata maritima portsia very stem very leaves oval, leaves entire
