Marshall, 1947 Melospiza Much good sea-slope habitat on Need peninsula in Military reservation - up to golden gate Bridge. June 2 Marin Co. Min Woods 6:30 AM - Last ps. SS is 50 yds upstream from start of park (Redwoods). From then on for a mi at least 20 birds. Last R-B thush about 190 yds up stream. Hermit thrus, 2o winter wrens then take over. Habitat good but shaded over by redwoods. SS every 40-50 yds from end of redwoods down- stream where plenty of light. Called up Spotted Owl at sitting on top broken Redwood 1st tree to t of sign for Natur trail. It did a lot of low barling & whistling. When himy goes E along N-facing slope N side min Beach counted SS in fleirclen, pinion oak, firs, Klobus, etc. Bacharis area - very wet, but grazed. 6 B's in 525 yds from N-most bend to summit to West. This count made from both sides of rd. - Rd. don't get to top of ridge, just wet enough on this slope to simulate gulley type of wetness. More birds on cliff facing ocean and down in gulley itself -(Polyp oak), Heracleum etc.) they seemed to spill a little out into the Bacharis from there 2 habitat. Spotty sea-slope habitat all along from here to
