Marshall, 1947 Melospiza June 5 Oakland Hills, Skyline Blvd, Alameda Co, Caly. Raining calm. E gate Tilden - a few ss in "soft chaparral" clear up to summit of N facing slope. At Redwood Park - no birds on E-facing & NE facing slope in redwood-madrone area. Hear several Hermit Thrushes, then & a family & several pairs & single Chukadees On bridge of redwood park (S of Redwood Mt) are many song sparrows - some feeding jumps out of nest - 3 or 4 within hearing - this is in the public picnic area - 2nd growth redwoods with poison oak, blackberry etc. Not a natural habitat - yet hard to acc't for oft nos. ss. - Under redwood clumps, frazing in green low strubbery around edges of redwoods.
