Marshall, 1947 85. Mulospriza May 29 Alameda Co., Salt marshes, Calif - at 1/2 mi due south of Leslie is a ditch containing water & bordered with Cornus, mustard, dock & many song sparrows. This habitat continues to habitat a population of the whole system of creeks & ditches along highway between Mt Eden & Alvarado pg of course is santaermeis. This pt 1/2 mi S Leslie is however the western extremity of the population for here the salt works ponds are & some just being built. A patch of good Salicornia left but tide shut off mustard & grass growing thru Salicornia & birds gone. This would have been a point of junction of habitats once before. B Further west closer to bay the salt works country got a little better & I actually found yellow song sparrows & many javes in Salicornia or a natural slough area at "Derick" (or gourdpatch). Went along Alameda Creek again & looked closely at birds - Salicornia birds especially war, "Typha-S. marsh bird," brown white below. Began to see real yellow birds further down Alameda Creek - drove close to "Windmill" - birds abundant on bldgs, roads
