Marshall, 1947 Melospiza Mon 13th south San Francisquito Creek, Santa Clara Co., Calif. 7:30-8:00 AM calm, cloudy N approx. last willows, elder etc. very narrow salicornia no birds high bank high bank typha marsh many birds saw 3 close- Brown backed white belled large. Palo Alto Airport Typha! Salicornia, not tidal, stagnant sloughs no birds not conn. to main bay None of this is natural - Typha marsh has tiny dint salicornia around it - all is a dirt dumping place. 2 mi W Alviso, Santa Clara Co., Calif. a typha marsh artificial standing fresh water to wet of garbage dump. No song sparrows. Only about 1 acre of Typha not dense. The bay shore here has 2 great banks with stagnant slough between - this goes for miles, 3/4 mile out (N) is original salicornia etc salt marsh. So on the edge of bay here is no fishing habitat (Salicornia narrow ample rye wide @ no tidal flow) - SS carry around off shore on the Cortin island near to Alviso. Alviso, Santa Clara Co. Calif. Town is entirely surrounded by cortin pop SS in Salicornia-Spartia marsh, gerdelia on south side. On west
