Marshall, 1947 Melospiza May 3 mouth Patterson Creek, Alameda Co., Calif. The fence shown is end of area 2 censured in field. I then call 4 in grindeia at north & noted so many birds there that I run add this as a memory or guess work supplement to show how much more abundant the birds are in the extensive grindeia at mouth compared to their scarcity along 600 yds of clough with Salicornia & very little grindeia covered on field census. At the lock - a ♂ SS & ♀ Savannah Sparrow perched for 15-20 min. in same bush preening - after bathing. Both had identical alarm note of "trip"; neither paid any attention to the other. Then were about 10 Savannas in the Salicornia surveyed in place where only 4 SS counting many in grass along hill less in grindeia.
