Principal Veg: Buckeye, Salix, Acer negundo, Typha, Corium, (Some nettle, Rubrus, Artemesia, only one Hieraculum seen, wild radish, 2 patches round Scirpus, Dock common,). 7:10-7:30AM Hiked back along road N 11 creek from RR to bridge at edge salt marsh, listening for singing ST's. Dist = 1 mi, passed thru 3 cycles of alternate singing & non-singing groups. At end - 1 or 2 birds - usually if any sing, all in the vicinity sing. not singing some singing not singing all singing not Singing all Singing 7:30 1 mi by road 5 mi 4 mi 7:10 May 3 mouth Patterson Creek, Alameda Co., Calif. (See next page) In Willows - saw Sparrows feeding in foliage high in trees - getting caterpillars apparently.
