Marshall, 1946 Melospiza melodia April 7 Elkhorn Slough, Monterey Co., California Note however, that there is no salt marsh drawn on the topographic map for this spot - perhaps a new Salicornia area not yet invaded. May 5 Tomales Bay, Marin Co., Calif. clear, warm, calm. Contra Costa Co. Month El Cerrito Creek & opposite Pt. Isabel : Extensive tracts of deep Salicornia with Baccharis & Grindelia lining sloughs & ditches. good habitat. Isabel Pt to Stage : Contra Costa Co. narrow line salt grass on bay side of highway good habitat. Stage : Catalina Co. Extensive marsh formerly tules now higher & all deep Salicornia with Baccharis & Grindelia, good habitat Marin Co. San Rafael marshes now all converted into pasture. Tomales Bay, Marin Co. : Cattail marshes & willow marshes at head of bay, song sparrows around edge of bay on S side (slope of Inverness Ridge) in vine tangles, willows, weeds, soft chaparral, & occasional patches of cattails. Investigated the salt marsh extensively between Inverness & Point Reyes station keeping on S. side of main slough. Some sedge &
