Marshall, 1947 Otus scops June 9th Fk Silver Creek, Eldorado Co, Caly\ngun yellow pine & fir forest, but it followed us a way into the heavy tall forest of the valley.\nPoorwills in manzanita & Black Oak - The poorwill was a sight to see flying - Would sail quite a long ways with wings slightly forward, vent, & up at 45 L or righthand. Also would flutter or hover before alighting with very deep strokes. May fly with infrequent beats, bringing wings back to freerian sailing L each time. Got going rather fast several times. this hiking between 6700 & 6900 ft. Saw Porcupine climb up a little fir\nJune 3rd hiked up this same valley from camp trying for all owls in the book. Found only 1, an Otus fusc scops in open forest of hillside where a lot of black oaks - stayed high in firs. Farther on in Jeffrey Pine & Black oaks heard 'one which could have been the same owl.\nMr Rosen has suggested that like his Mexican Otus asio, this species may have a great expanse of its - seems
