VI Open Grassland
Description: Stumps or scattered
oaks dot these grassed areas. The
grass is dead now and about 1 ft.
high. Squirrels, jack rabbits,
and gophers, and a few birds,
chiefly sparrows, woodpeckers,
and blue birds, constitute most
of the conspicuous animal life.
VII Artificial
Description: Orchards, vineyards,
alfalfa fields, rice fields, yards
etc. come under this category.
Blackbirds, blue birds, jays, magpies,
wilden, sparrows, pheasants,
meadowlarks, are common
VIII Aerial
Note: most all predacious birds,
except the kingfisher may be
found over all or any habitat.
Bats are aerial, but stay near
trees, or barns where they may
hang up in daytime.
