Thompson Canyon, French Gulch, Rancho,
and Kelsoe Valley. Build their
nests among rocks at the foot of
and up in trees. Both in dry
and near wet places. Wood
supply & a sheltered place in
which to build not water seem
to be the governing factors in their
habitat occurrence.
13. Neotoma lepida: Taken only
in Kelsoe Valley: Build their
nests among the Joshua.
14. Sorex: Taken in Thompson
Canyon, Walker Basin, and
Kelsoe Valley. Occur always
at the edge of water.
15. Scapanus: Taken only in
Walker Basin. But mole signs
seen also in [illegible] Thompson Canyon
and French Meadows. Fossorial.
16. Pipistrellos: Taken in Thompson
Canyon.
17. Spilogale: Taken only at Kelsoe
Valley. Occurring in rocky
canyons.
18. Bobcat, coyote: Apparently
occur throughout the Pintos.
19. Deer: Restricted to mountains
