Santa Cruz, Calif. - Dec. 9,
Distribution of Mammals in the Pinte Mts:
1. Peromyscus sonorien sis: Taken at all
camps, undoubtedly occurring through
out the Pinte mts. + adjacent
territory, in almost all types of
habitats; rocks, brush, sand, grass,
hillslides, canyon bottoms, and
level plains.
2. Peromyscus truei: Taken at Thom-
pson Canyon, French Gulch,
Ramblin's & Kelsey valley. In
other words taken everyplace
where there were rocky hill slopes
apparently unrestricted in range,
but restricted in habitat to
rocky hillslopes.
3. Peromyscus boylei: Taken at
Thompson Canyon, French Gulch,
Ramblin's, and Kelsey valley.
Always near water.
4. Peromyscus crinitus: Taken
only in Kelsey valley - and only
among rocks and cliffs, never
out in the levels.
5. Perognathus calif: Taken at
Thompson Canyon, Ramblin's, and
Kelsey valley. Occurs in varied
habitats, but more often from
