Kaye - 1933. 6. 8 mi. S, 6 mi. W, Chico; 100 ft., Butte Co., Calif. Sept. 16, 1933. in the key sheet. at a point 13 mi. S, 7 mi. W. of Chico, 100 ft. Butte, Co., Calif. I took; 110 Crotalus oregonus I was setting steel traps near the river, just after the sun had gone down when I saw this snake coiled in the entrance to squirrel hole. Mr. Hall shot it in the neck with his pistol. About an hour before this I set out 16 traps for microtus in the grass at the lower end of "Eddy Lake." Just as I had finished I looked up and saw a fox sitting - or standing on a log across the draw from me. He was watching me, and since the sun was nearly at his back I was unable to distinguish any coloration. I took a long shot at him with my shotgun, but failed to collect him. Sept. 17, 1933. From the traps which I set in the draw last night for microtus I collected the following specimens; approximately (see next page.)
