Page - 1933. Rankin Ranch Walker Basin Nov. 15, 1933. shot a green-backed goldfinch from a willow. In my traps I caught one song sparrow and another of the unknown species of sparrows. Ray has been hunting down canyons and has been unable to find either a wrentit or a thrasher. He says also that Calif. jays and brown towhees are scarce down there. My bird census for yesterday, the 14th resembles very much the one of the day before. I didn't see any more phoebes however. Today was rather a poor day for both of us, however, saved from complete
