Kaye - (1933. 82. French Gulch, 6700 ft., Piute Mts. - Oct. 30, 1933. one of the logs bridging the two habitats at the bottom of the canyon. It is neither one or the other of the two chipmunks, but is, rather, a mixture of the two. (His number is "309") It has the tail of the merriami, and the head markings of the merriami; while his whole general body coloration and design are resemble to the quadrivittatus. His measurements are between the two. I'll try to get more like him tomorrow, on our last day here. Trap record: From my meadow creek line I took a pack rat, (from the same trap in which I caught two chipmunks and one other pack rat.) I had the bait taken again from the same steel trap which was robbed up the canyon last time. I saw fresh coyote tracks, not too near the trap; so it may or may not be a coon which is doing the "thieving". I could make out no tracks near the trap. v 309 Eutamias - interbreed - ♂ wt: 60 235-100-33-19 v 310 Eutamias-quadrivittatus ♂ wt: 61 210-88-34-20 v 311 Eutamias quadrivittatus ♂ wt: 57 210-83-34-19 v 312 Eutamias quadrivittatus ♂ wt: 69 214-82-33-20
