I climbed the eastern ridge this morning and shot a pygmy nuthatch, a purple finch and a fox sparrow. Down in the meadows I shot a golden-crowned kinglet, a robin and an evening grosbeak. Also here I shot a meadowlark and a plain titmouse. The latter I shot from a willow along the creek. The grosbeak was in the company of 4 others, and was also taken from the willows along the creek. Likewise the golden crowned kinglet was taken from the willows.
I set out a coyote trap in the meadow this evening, and brought in a few of my other traps. Ray shot a varied thrush on the western ridge.
The temperature was below freezing this morning, reached a peak of 84° in the tent in mid-morning, and was back to 55° by sundown?

My traps yielded almost nothing this morning, 2 microtas', me gophers, 2 perognathus erimithus, & one maniculatus. I shot 3 chipmunks, breaking the skull of 2 of them. Ray shot a brush rabbit from
