A heavy dew during the night didn't keep the nocturnal rodents from moving about, because we got quite a few specimens in our traps. From my pack rat sets along Basin Creek I got two rats - an adult male and female. The latter had a big warble in her left shoulder. From my mouse traps in the sage I got two dipos, one peromyscus, and one neither rodentmys. I got a very large gopher in a trap 20 feet from the tent. I got another gopher out of an open field. The gophers are molting now - red to dark? I hunted up the gopher grey squirrel this morning that I saw yesterday. I found him; shot him three times, and finally being unable to knock him off the limb over which he was draped, I climbed up after him. I got him in my hands and started down with him, when he took a
