S Side Thompson Canyon, 3500', Walker Basin,
Kern Co., Calif. Oct. 10, 1933.
Last night I set 10 traps in tall
grass next to our tent and caught 3 pers. m.s.
and one with. m. I set one rat trap in
the barn and caught one kangaroo rat.
I set 1 rat trap at the foot of a tree in
which there was a pack rat nest, and
cought one pack rat. I set 28 traps at
random in fields of rabbit brush scattered
with rock outcrops. I caught two male
pers. m.s., 2 kangaroo rats, and one
small pack rat in a mouse trap at
least 50 feet from any rocks, and there
were no pack rat signs in the nearest
rocks.
