side of Peal
June 22 - 10 p.m. heard crying on east
Side of Peal
June 26 - 4:30 p.m. Water 2 nests
investigated over lagoon North end of
water ¼ mi S of Channel. 1st Bird
visible in hole 2½ ft long or ft
under. Bird taken out one white
elliptical egg on the gravel of cave
floor. Bird released (didn't show much
fight - slate gray, lighter beneath)
flew away just over trees, a frigate
bird started after it - didn't return
in 10 minutes. Second - 3½ ft hole
ft + ½ down, lots of spirit, drew
blood. egg same. this bird almost
white underneath. wing 17" tail 6"
flew away also (when thrown)
