Golden Plover
Sept 12 - Real, during past week the birds have been approx twice as numerous as during any time since my arrival May 27; their calls also very evident. Birds can be seen at any time of day around airport - They like to feed in the cut Bermuda grass.
About two weeks ago the tropic convergence trough that has been in this vicinity, causing much rain & overcast days, has moved southward and we are having clear weather.
Real
Oct 10 - first plovers - noticed for about 3 weeks - only a pair
Nov. 12 - abundant now; Compound - Veriferous call - slurring warble of 2 notes - often given when taking flight or alighting.
Nov. 14 - Seen almost everywhere even in sheltered locations if no or very low ground cover (on Wahi back from east shore of lagoon) - all around lagoon shore also shore, don't remember if on ocean shore or not.
Nov 29 - Real Compound - Population unchanged of late; birds getting tamer can walk by within 10-15 feet.
Noticed first golden feathers - about four showing plainly on back (yellow more than gold) (quite mixed with the tan feathers quite gold).
