Curler - Bristled Thighed
July 18 - A.M. Peal, one seen with
4 sand pipers half way between
Corral gables and Wake Channel, got
up with them & flew out of sight
in direction of channel, I had approxd
to within 20 yds. F Brown all
over with no definite markings except
that tail was had a rusty turn abt
same color as western Red tailed
hawk, tail spread fanlike when bird
flushed. Quite large, comparative size
with sand pipers.
August 30 - 3:30 P.M. Peale, one on profile,
along ridge along reef edge
straight east from garbage dump. Acted
as if there was a net near. flew
around in a half circle when I climbed
up the incline! standing farther down the
ridge, gave repeated crys.
Sept. 12 - Wake P.M. four birds seen
3 just northwest of Southern tip 1 1/4 mile
east of Southern tip, quite wary
only field character noted was a
slightly light colored rump. Birds
uttered a sort of far-away cry when
flushed something like golden plover.
Oct 2 - Peal 4 P.M. lone bird callby
flew by - clearly - went to east,
