Red Footed Booby
April 2 - Nesting all over Wake, some in same tree with Frigates. Mostly eggs but some young in down some quite large in pin feathers on tail & wings, all eggs marred on surface, chalky layer scratched thru.
April Aug 18 - See note on flight of Brown Booby for this date. Red Footed seem to start sooner but fly as late some going by in middle of afternoon. Took some pictures on North leg of Wake.
Aug 18 most young in down stage or just out of it, no eggs and only one young less than half size of adult by wt. probably 2 thou - 2000 on the many immatures in juvenile plumage however, some adept at flying some just learning. Probably there are over 2000 birds on the north leg of Wake.
