Brown Booby
July 18 - A.M. Wake apparently the
sp nests & stays on the East
edge of Wake. Many young in down
stage
Sept 12 - P.M. Wake, at South tip
of Wake 2 full grow immature birds
on one rock / on reef one on shore
light greyish breast, brownish back.
On passing edge of colony on East
side of Wake many young in
down stage noticed.
Nov 19 Wake - No young in down stage
seen. Nesting site deserted except
for one bird which could fly. A
flock of at least 100 at South tip of
Wake, perch very near the ocean
Moved farther East when I flushed
them, flushed twice more as I
progressed along the shore.
Feb 14 Wake P.M - many seen around site
of last yrs nesting, (passing thru) but no signs
of this yr nesting
April 2 Wake - Beginning to nest on old
nesting sight North east corner of Wake, nests
under construction and eggs (not yet as
many birds as last spring, one met 3 eggs,
number with 2, as many with one. Nests
average about 1 1/2 inches thick at rim. One
seemed to out fly (glide) a frigate that was.
Frigate gave up, only couple times close enough to strike.
