June 9, 9:05 Peal, Coral gables - One flew
by 9:50 - one in brush at top of beach
200 yds east of Coral Gables, floundered
around took off into air but once
in air lost manner was magnificent
slid along windward beach front
June 26 - P.M. Wake - Many nesting along
Surface - brick sized coal rolls - few trees
east shore of Wake, especially from the
channel to the first turn in the
shore line (going south). All but one
aggressive
flew away on my approach. Eggs
to young in late down stage. Nests
on ground, eggs same shape as chicken,
+ size of small chicken egg. Young seen
from a downless pig skin-like
helpless thing to almosts full sizes
but not near to flying yet.
Adults always had difficulty
getting off ground. Flopped along like a
shot would
seemed to out fly (slide) a pigeon but one
Frigate gave up only couple times close enough to strike
