Nov 15 Peale
- seem to be starting to nest behind the
hotel.
Dec 6 - Tropic Peal nesting begone. have
seen about 4 on the ground but no
eeggs yet one at east edge of DF Blauing
leveling with the tractor 15 ft away
did not discourage the bird.
Feb 14 - Peal it is reported to $ me (May
Bourange that a month ago there were
many tropic birds under trees around
the compound esp Hospital. Have
only been 2 nesting since returning on Feb
9 both had lost tail feathers (probably
pulling feathers made them leave - chamosso
boys.
March 24 very quiet about rearing young
many back of hotel, one still in
down stage I nest feathered lay or
side rather than 'straight' up
April 2 - 2 seen nesting on Wake.
April 3 - Peal young as large as parents
some eggs yet one seems to have a
large young and an egg 100 yds east of
hotel. [illegible]
June 4 - Peal 12 nests seen - no eggs
early down stage to full sized - Rear of
Hotel to Wake channel.
Aug 23 Peal, tropic bird scarce now
probably only one or two young on Peale.
