Sooty Tern
Feb 17 - Peel - the sun, hi tide washed a lot
of eggs away there
March 24 All the nests that were laid
where road comes over sea ridge, East
side of Peel have been wiped out, I
believe was due to rails eating eggs, one
caught in act went hurriedly thru
Colony swiping at exposed eggs, terns
protected own egg but did not drive
rail away, at this Colony one pair
of eggs - and abt 350 singles
April 2 Big Colts Colonies now at
DF site (East side), South end of Peel,
(frobin stage to egg segregated) and
N end of Wake (across Eba Peel Channel)
strip from Coral Gables to channel along
ridge has been failed except near channel
(probably rails - too few for protection vs
most rails there
April 18 - Donground, Notices first young tern
shabby on joins, quavering voice.
April 21 - Conferound Quite a few flying
