July 18 - Wake 4 Pearl A.M. at least 20
seen, all in same plumage, most striking
mark, the white band down back, then
the dark collar over the white breast
next a white band on top of tail, not
so noticeable is the light narrow band
running out top of wing
dorsal view
under parts white,
upper parts quite dark almost black but
I think there is some brown
July 30 - 10. A.M. Pearl port, 3 feeding
on grounds. Posture & manner simple
most with sort of a deliberate, creeping
motion make only one swipe with
bill (done pick away at things) the
portion of the body is horizontal.
th tail very wedge shaped
guess the food was
insects by the method of feeding, moved
about picking up something here & there.
Extreme change of color pattern between
flight standing & flight. On the ground
no whites (or very little) visible on back
but white appears in striking bands
in flight - top of tail nearly all
white divided by a dark center strip,
prob tail coverts.
