TLyons 1939 Noddy pg e Feb 14 - Peal & Wake - not yet in prominence few birds seen since Feb 9 March 24 - Lots of birds now two weeks ago some send with twigs, about just week in March began to move in Still have heard only about 2 squeaks out of them April 2 - Peal building nests no eggs seen yet. Not yet very intelligent, still don't squawk April 21, Peal saw a nest on ground. Probably reason not seen last yr is that rails get the egg eventually June 4 Peal, from B rear of hotel to Wake channel, few young with feathers more eggs than young. one nest on ground June 24, Peal, one put up #80 Aug 23, Peal, nearly all eggs hatched. flock of 50 setting on sand bar South of sandspit, no nests, except one or two in Phoenic pemphis at base of sand spitt where they nested last season. chickent population is on Between DF site and garbage dump (Northern part of peale)
