Lyons Noddy June 9 1932, 10:30 A.M., Pearl, --- no Noddys seen soaring (air full of sooty tume) many birds perched on + by nests in Tumfortias island 2 birds now in sight feeding slowly but deliberately over lagoon - fly along 6-10 inches over the surface (into wind of course) T pick objects off of surface, much of time are 5-10 feet off of surface oft swing up, & wheel back down wind or apparently recroeter. 11:00 flock of 38 still there. Point of bill often put down by tip of tarsus or base of tarsus, or even farther back gives the appearance of looking back between their legs motions slow ? laxidagical ; purpose ? Prem feathers now + then occasionally pick objects off of sand - resting position (Poot watching lasts 1/2-3? seconds) between sand spit on Pearl-Wake channel about 100 resting on sand flat at southern edge of Fox
