To Hood River to get the truck and provisions. We plan to go on and camp near Mosquito Lakes when they get back.
This country has been lumbered over to some extent, but there is still much large timber left. A number of cattle were seen about camp last evening and they appear to have ranged in this area for some time as evidenced by their well worn trails.
Last evening a few very small bats were seen flying high among the tops of the trees. A couple of shots were taken but the bats were apparently too high or my aim was poor.

We moved on from the Ice Caves yesterday and made camp at Saddle Camp, Twin Buttes. Nothing much of interest was seen along the way except a few tanagers, and three turkey vultures which were seen near Smoky Creek. Last evening I made two coyote traps sets on a ridge near camp. 4 dog wine was used for scent. I also set one rat trap by a Citellus burrow and
