Itinerary
July 8 Brooks Mdw, Hood River Co., Ore.
Yesterday afternoon I set 4 - No. 0 snake
jump traps at some Aplodostria burrows
along the edge of the Mdw. near camp.
I also set 7 rat traps - 4 baited with
prunes and 3 with pieces of bird meat
at the bases of some large fir trees
in the heavy timber near camp.
From these 7 traps I caught:
Glaucomys sabrinus 2 →
Eutamias townsendii 1 →
One Glaucomys was caught on meat
and One on prune; the Eutamias
was caught on prune. Porcupine
tracks, bobcat tracks, and deer tracks
were seen along a road near
camp this morning. About 8:30 A.M.
one or possibly two Coyotes were
heard howling in the timber
south of camp.
The following is a list of the
birds positively identified or
collected in this vicinity:
Flicker, pine grosbeak, Steller Jay, Canada Jay,
mountain chickadee, Pine Siskin, Chipping
Sparrow, Lincoln Sparrow, Robin, Alan
Hummingbird, Meadow Lark, Lazuli
Bunting. Hawkes were conspicuous.
