Douglas Oct. 7 Hinchica Cr. burns 60 yds distant While running they sometimes held their tails perpendicularly above their backs, sometimes horizontally behind them raising and lowering them as they run? When really hard pressed however, they seldom hold their tails up. They were out this early, probably because it was a warm sunny morning. Oct. 21 Hinchica Cr. Squirrels are still out in full numbers actively feeding during the warmer part of the day. They are quick to take advantage of man made habitats & food supplies. Four have established a burrow in a field beside the Cr. This field has not been cultivated for five months and since then sheep have been feed grain hay there so that much straw and scattered kernels of grain still remain. The squirrels (4 were observed due) have two burrows 23ft. apart. They were seen busily foraging among the straw for grain from
