This morning Marshall and I drove down to the Napa R. below Cuttings wharf and securing my 12 ft. duck boat spent the day collecting birds along the small tidal sloughs. On W. Side Napa R., 8 1/2 mi S, 2 1/2 mi. W Napa (South Napali.) I collected Melospiza melodia 4 Junco 2 Savannah sparrows 4? The song sparrows were taken among the tule; the savannah sparrows in an open field; & the juncos in a grove of eucalyptus. In the evening I set out 45 mouse traps baited with oatmeal on the small island E. side Napa R., 1/2 mi S. Cuttings Wharf, Napa Co, Calif.
