Itinerary
Oct.6 Huichica Cr., 200 ft., Napa Co., Calif.
Yesterday afternoon I drove from
Berkeley to Huichica Cr. In the evening
I set out 45 mouse traps along the Cr.,
and about some clumps of Carex sp?
growing about a small spring in a
grassy field. The catch was:
Microtus californicus 1?
Peromyscus maniculatus 2 of 2?
The Microtus was caught by the
spring among Carex, and the
Peromyscus were caught along the
Cr. At this point the banks of the
Cr. are lined with a high growth
of alder, live-oak, and bay. Two
#1 steel traps were also set along
the Cr baited with weed seed.
One Lepus californicus ? was collected in the orchard the night of the 6th
Oct.7 Huichica Cr.
On the afternoon of the 6th I set
mouse and 4, #2 steel traps
out 65 traps on a small knoll
located in the salt marshes at
E. side Napa R., 1/2 mi. S Cuttings Wharf, Napa
Co., Calif. This knoll is located on
a peninsula between Steamboat and
Fagon sloughs. The knoll is about
30yd. from the E. bank of the Napa R. It
is surrounded by salt marsh which
is flooded by the highest tides and is.
