Itinerary
Aug.19 Troy Cr. 5400 ft.
on the lower foothills so
that there is a large are
which is quite undisturbed.
We drove up Troy Cr. a little
over three mi. and talked with a caretaker of [illegible] mine. He
said that he had heard of
sheep on Troy Mt. but that
he had only been here 2 mos. and
had not seen any. We then
went on up the Cr. about
a mi. and made camp.
Aug.20 Troy Cr. 5400 ft.
On the evening of the 19th I shot
one or [illegible] near camp. Several
bats were seen flying but not
none were collected.
This morning Alcorn and I hiked
to the head of Troy Canyon. It was
only about 4 mi. airline, but owing to
the rough country and poor trail it
took us almost 8 hrs. The top of the
ridge at the canyon's head is 5600 ft.
[illegible] high. We hunted out the
whole head of the canyon which
has been burned over on the N. side
and is very rocky and rough, but
