Glaucomys sabrinus July 8 Brooke Mdw., 4300 ft., 9 mi ENE Mt. Hood, Hood River Co., Ore. Two flying squirrels were caught here in not traps set at the bases of large Abies amabilis in a heavy grove of timber. One was caught with prune bait and another with a piece of bird meat. Traps set among smaller trees failed to catch any squirrels, indicating that they stay in the vicinity of large timber, especially in heavy groves. One squirrel was still alive when found in the trap, being caught only by one leg. It appeared gentle and did not offer to bite. Its vision also seemed to be good even in the bright sunlight, showing that in spite of its nocturnal habit it could adjust itself to daylight.
