Itinerary
Aug. 1
2 mi. E Vinton, 4900 ft., Plumas Co., Calif.
Yesterday afternoon we moved on to the above location. This is low sagebrush covered sandy soil. There is also considerable Chrysothamnus. During the day's drive we passed Goose Lake and Honey Lake which, although both were listed as dry on the map, contained a good deal of water.
50 mouse traps were set out in the sagebrush near camp, baited with oatmeal and 5-10 yd. apart.
Several coyotes were heard barking and howling nearby after dark along with a horned owl. During the day I collected a Citellus beldingi.

I also shot at a large horned owl seen perched on a telegraph pole in the early evening near Doyle,
Sutter Co.
The catch from the 50 mouse traps was:
